  • Stableworks Vermeer HDRI Skies: opinions?

Anybody has a working experience with Vermeer Skies by Stableworks? Particularly: how is quality compared to HDRI-Skies or PGuthrie? I use HDRI Skies with Pulze Scenemanager and am wondering if it makes things easier/better? From the demo I don’t see much difference.

I remember when these were launched. I haven't tried them, but maybe I will.

Well it's not "compatible" with SceneManager, so if you rely on that to set up your scenes you're going to have a bad time. Quality wise, imho I find it's not as good as the latest versions of PGSkies, also you have a horizon of trees and a ground (see image).

Thanks. Disappointing that the problems with Scene Manager are still not resolved, which is essential to me.

Yh one of the reasons I don't really use it, I just have a bunch of different HDRIs setup in scene manager with the degrees and mood mentioned + camera EVs, so I know more or less how high the sun is and my exposure is more or less already good to start from.

I know what you're talking about. Normally I start with a Daylight System until I have the perfect sun angle and then I have SM setups with HDRIs matching a specific sun angle. From there I experiment with the different moods from these HDRIs and let the cllient decide. I am afraid that with Vermeer I think I don't need 70-80% of a single pack; it's nice to see how lighting changes when you scroll through a HDRI-pack but in the end it will mostly come down to about the same angles. Then I prefer to scroll through moods at a specific time, instead of srolling through time with the same HDRI pack.
