  • Dreamscape or vue infinite dilemma

    hello everyone
I would like your opinion in two pieces of software.
    Dreamscape and vue infinite.
I m about to buy one of them but i havent been able to make a decision yet
We primarily need such a software for skies (animated if possible) and water.
Terrains, although a plus are not a very important feature.
I ve played with the demo of both of tem and they both look equally good.
I would be inclined to get vue infinite but i would like to see how it works with max. Unfortunately the demo does not connect to max and they dont give the plugin to try it out.
Dreamscape on the other hand seems fairly limited and kind of difficult to tweek but it appears rock solild.
Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.
    kind regards
    Alkis

What exactly do you feel is limited in Dreamscape ? We recently purchased Dreamscape and Afterburn and i´m pretty happy with them. And integration is a BIG plus with Dreamscape

my only experience with both is the demo versions. dreamscape seems limited when compared with the very extensive set of controls and presets in vue infinite. also the ability to use custom made materials is pretty good as well.
anyone out there that can say a bit more about its integration with max ( and vray)?
      regards

I cant speak for Vue, but as of custom materials..well that´s what you have MAX for, no ? there might not be as many presets, but i find Dreamscape both intuitive and pretty straight forward to set up once you got the idea behind it. It also features VERY good water including full water dynamics and foam generation. It has a basic but very nice Terrain feature. It is for sure more work in DS to texture a terrain for example but it can be rendered as non-geometry wich stays smooth at all distances but renders crazy fast (i assume some kind of implicit implementation).
