  • MAX raytrace material!?!

    Hi all,
I merged in some old models, and the MAX raytrace initialization now comes up at rendering time (I am in V-ray, doh).

The scene is quite complex, and I cannot find the MAX raytrace material.

How do I track it down?
Should it be the raytrace MATERIAL (as against STANDARD) or it could be a MAX map?

    Thank you,

    regards

    gio

go to your material editor and get material. Search through the scene parameters and it should show up as a different colored circle with raytrace next to it.

I think Max 7 had a bug to where it would enable raytrace messages when merging scenes... You can turn off the message (separate from materials) by going to Rendering > Raytracer Settings.

        thank you guys.
I did find the "raytrace" material...

By the way, does anyone know the meaning of the colors of the little ball near the material names?

dark blue is v-ray, but what about red? and blue? green?

        thanks

Just guessing on these, but I think blue is materials, green is maps, yellow is mental ray materials, purple is real-time shaders?, and not sure about red.
