camera flipping problem

  • camera flipping problem

    hi, i am animating a camera that swings in a vertical arc (on a path constraint) up and over a stationary target. the trouble is when the camera is dead vertical and on it's way down it spins 180 degrees. i don't want this to happen, is there a setting to alter to fix this? i can't find one.

    i generally link the camera to a simple dummy and link this one to the path, helped me several times avoiding such problems as you have, maybe it can help

      it only works if you use a free camera - basically the camera can't decide what's up and what's down and flips
      I seem to remember it does it with a free camera and look at target as well?

      a kludge I used once was to rotate the entire scene, lights, everything, so it was in a vertical plane, then the cam doesnt flip, but could be a pain with environments
