  • Modifier to chamfer (or is it fillet) all edges of selected

Any idea if there is a max option/script/utility to chamfer all the edges of a selected object by the same amount? I import all my geometry from AutoCad and it would be nice to click one button and it chamfer all edges instantly.
    Kind Regards,

Tricky - I was interested in the same thing. I am trying to get into making more objects native to VIZ. You can select the face/extrude/bevel commands under the modify panel as a work around. You might already know this.

I have been using chamferbox primative as well to get rounded corners and just removing portions I don't need under sub-object.

I thought it would be a very simple thing to add to an imported Acad object but I haven't been able to find it either. If anyone else knows more please advise.

    Regards Peter.

How about f-edge? I tried the demo and it seemed to work pretty convincingly - automatically creating a chamfered or filleted look at rendertime.

        (*) Add Edit Poly Modifier
        (*) Sub-Selection level - 2 (egde)
        (*) Ctrl+A
        (*) Enter Chamfer value

That should work. All the AutoCad objects are coming like Editable Mesh mostly (3D Solids), which uses a diagonal edge too. That's why an Editable poly mod, as I suppose you don't need chamfering the inner diagonal edges as well.

I use a script called ChamferMadness. It's not a one step solution but I like it. You use the chamfer command in MAX for the size chamfer you want and then hit the CM button one or two times and your done. No value entry required for the script, no matter the size of the chamfer. I think you can still get it at http://www.scriptspot.com

This creates chamfers for all those triangles as well and messes up the geometry (unless I misunderstand you), so it does the same as edit mesh.

I'm a bit thick when it comes to scripts. I've done as the script instructs and created a button for it. The button is always greyed out - even when I select an object. Could you explain (for a thick person!) how to get it to work.

              Cheers
