  • Email notification??

Figured I would ask the gurus.....Autodesk is not returning my calls.

I can not get an email telling me failure, completion, etc......I have filled out the From, To, and SMTP server info.....and by the way....Our email server requires password verification or something like that.......Any help or links are greatly appreciated.

    Thanx

I think if your email server requires any kind of authentication, (password, SMP, etc) it won't work.

so most external mail servers won't work - open relay is getting pretty dangerous these days with all the spamming going on
if you have an internal server you might have more luck - depending what your it-guys say

edit: there are command line mail clients for windows that could be called by max after the render finishes/fails

Well...we got it working....Because our firm uses an external email server requiring authentication, I downloaded a utility called QK SMTP Server that accepts local unauthenticated mail from Viz. The email is then authenticated and relayed to our external sever by the software. I rendered out 1800 frames last night, every 10th for the IR and did an email test every 5 frames AND IT WORKED GREAT. All I need now is to convince work that I need a new pocket pc phone to monitor my renderings....and I will be set..hehe
        Thanx all
