I received my 6 new render nodes. X2 4200, 2 gigs ram. I loaded up the first one and over clocked it a little to 2.4 GHZ. I did some DR speed comparisons to see how they stack up against the rest of my nodes. My test scene is a recent project.

          Results:
          X2 4200, 2 gig ram, 1 min 49 sec
Dual Xeon 3.2, 3 gig ram, 2 min 6 sec
Dual Xeon 2.8, 2 gig ram, 2 min 25 sec
Dual Xeon 2.4, 2 gig ram, 2 min 30 sec

I’m pretty happy so far. I’ll add my results to the benchmark topic when I have some time.

Yeah , we have one rendernode (dual Athalon 2600+, over 3 years old ) between the 5 of us right now, and we only had 3 VRay liscenses up until yesterday.

Totally jealous . I'm curious about how you (or someone else) runs administration on a renderfarm like this (things like installing software, monitoring, etc). Through something like VNC or through a KVM switch? Either seems manageable for 21 boxes but I thought about what if you have a couple of hundred servers in the farm, then what?

Im involved with a farm in Liverpool at the moment giving them vray support, they have 400 nodes and employ a techy to manage there nodes and keep em upto to date and just babysit em...

Hey Natty, what's the name/url of the render farm in Liverpool? I tend to use Respower at the moment if Ifind myself in a fix, but it's always handy to know of others - if the price is right!

                            Cheers,

                            Andrew.

For here in the US, which source would you all recommend as a reliable X2 rendernode dealer?
