  • Variable case fan speeds?

I would like to make my case fans speed up and slow down based on the cpu temps. Does anyone know of a program that will allow this? I have 3 asus A8N-E boards in a box I built with 3 Tornado fans which run at full speed all the time. Very, very loud even after I put 3/4" sound insulation on the box walls.

why not just buy one with heat sensors built into them?

I've seen molex adapters which can adjust the speeds. My latest Antec P180 case has 3 variable 15mm fans with a switch on each one - so they do sell fans out there with the switches built in. The P180 is the quietest case I've ever seen - I can't even tell it is on and have to doublecheck every morning.

LOL! I know how you feel!

My latest plan is to add a new dual 265 into my homemade server cabinet without making it able to fry eggs on the case. We'll see......

Thanks for the link val. They may have what I'm looking for.

speedfan does the job, if your board supports temp metering and fan voltage control
            http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
            freeware

you can adjust the desired cpu and case temperatures and it will adjust the fan speeds accordingly
it even prints out the temps to the sys tray and meters hdd temps (granted your hdds have smart capability and a temp sensor)
