  • FULL Path to bitmaps in ME

MAX 8. How should the ME be setup, so that the full path is seen in the ME ?
In this case the bitmap is from an UNC path (if that matters at all).
    Thanks.

    strange,

i usually pull the image onto the path button from an external image browser (thumbs plus or acdsee work) or from the explorer
if those applications are operating on a network share (\\file_store\textures\ground\) max will take over the complete unc path

other than that, you could use the bitmap/photometric path editor utility to alter all scene materials at once (works well if all textures reside in one shared directory)

    cheers,

    Mike

I suppose there is some check-box which controls that. Just couldn't find it so far.

        Hi Nikki

There is a 'Convert file paths to UNC' check box under Customize > Preferences > Files Tab which might be what you're looking for.

If you are rendering via Backburner use the alternate map path in backburner. I usualy dont bother with unc path to the maps untill I render the animation out. But if it´s for dr render IO dont know:/

nikki - max8 does a weird thing and compresses the bitmap path right down to just the map name, im not sure if there is a fix for it

weird.. cant say i have ever noticed that. But then again all my maps are local. So i guess it must be a network path only thing right?

That all is really weird. Can't seam to make it happen neither with local nor with net paths. My MAX 8 is still showing the full paths to the bitmaps.
Anyway, thanks all of you !

P.S.: If someone really find the key for the tent, please let me know,

                    Best regards,

Hi. I usually just press find files and it all gets ok (most of the time)
