  • Professional Organisations you belong to?

    Hi,

I am just wondering what others on this forum think to joining an organisation such as the Society of Graphic Designers? If I was in the States I would join the Graphic Artists Guild, but I am assuming that the Society of Graphic Designers in Canada is the same thing.

I am thinking about it as it will give me somewhere to go in this wilderness of business to meet other local designers and share ideas and possibly collaborate on work.

Just wanted to get other's thoughts on wether they have found it beneficial or just a waste of money. Cheers!

Umm . . . thanks jujubee but that is not the kind of organization I was asking about.

Although, now you mention it, maybe it would be handy to put some kind of "trance" on potential clients.

i have joined the mages guild in Oblivion.

they have the "trance" spell that you are looking for.
                  Reflect, repent and reboot.
                  Order shall return.

Hahahah! That's funny as hell. Mages Guild eh? Thieves and Fighters here. Then I stopped cause I keep getting progressively thumped by ogres and lost days out of my precious life. Membership only seems to make matters worse.

Here's a good read in subgenius philosophy in case anyone wants to ordain themselves:

im more of a D&D fan but we have our own mages guilds too hehehe

as for real guilds i guess the only one i would join would be rotary which isnt really a guild but a buisnessmans club type thing. i wouldnt join one of the lodges though.
