batch UVW mapping?

Hello,
I've been asked to animate a series of paper documents stacking on top of each other....getting higher and higher. Easy enough right? The problem is that there are 400+ individual docs (that I know of) which will need to be mapped onto 400+ indivual planes. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to automate the application of the texture map to the planes...maybe by using a script or something.
any other ideas would help too.

Dear god jesus I just may have the solution

I did a set of commercials a while back where we needed to do a flipbook with a different diffuse map on each object. I wrote a script to do this which basically uses the names of objects and bitmap filenames to work correctly.
