  • Speed arch modeling. How?

Hello guys. I was wondering - how can it (http://www.renderferma.ru/models18.html) be done within two days (I mean model), without any technical data (like dwg etc...), with only two-three photos + I was told it's pretty damn close to orignal? Or I'm just damn noob Anyway - for me it's nearly impossible as max just doesn't give me the precision like for ex. Rhino does - so no these kewl Rhino snaps etc.
Maybe some of you guys can point me out to plugins or tools, making max more suitable to this kind of tasks?
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

The Sweep modifier will make easy work out of all that complicated looking trim and door arches. The stairs could be modified Max stairs; Some box extruding will get you most of the rest of this building front.

Plugins? I got Polyboost, and am finally starting to make use of it. It's a powerfull modeling plugin for about $100.

All this said, I do most of my modeling in Sketchup, and add the rounded details in Max. It goes very fast.

Sometimes I'm only given a design drawing of just the front view of a house, and I have to infer the depth of everything. Hopefully your images are scaled correctly to measure from.

    Good luck!

If you know how to poly model (instead of booleaning or using modifiers to try to do everything) a model like that is deffinitely doable in two days. Thats two days of just modeling, no texturing, no lighting.

I could bang that out in less than a day in sketchup or acad easy.

If you look at it it's symmetrical so you'd only need to model half

Yeah under 2 days for sure.

As the other said its easily mirrorable and alot of it lines up.. so easy to model.

                  @ DaForce & gilicom

Wow, have you considered going to the F1 (formula 1) as you seem to be fast enough. (kidding)

I also think this can be done in 1 day (looking through my POV).
The problem is to think it out, or to balance the dimensions - especially when it comes to modelling from a photo reference, no DWGs, etc.

In my cases that can take longer sometimes, compared to the real modeling time.

True, if your going by eye it would take longer.. of course. Even still.. easily under 2 days.. under one day.. most likely as well.

Alot of the stuff isnt unique, and its all fairly boxy.. so you can wiz thru the basics (block it out) in no time.. then add the detail.
That fence looks pretty tought tho.. hahaha
