Softimage on the push
It seems as though Softimage is on the push big time for market share. My brother - an AE guru, is starting to see posts on AE forums about XSI and AE intergration with custom scripts - he has never seen this before.
I think with Autodesk buying Maya alot will be skeptical about the future of both products and they are getting ready to jump ship - I think Softimage senses this and is on a big push.
This siggraph will be interesting - if 3dsmax and or Maya produce lame duck upgrades, there might well be a mass exodus

i don't know about the mass exodus, but surely it is interesting a concept, if it pans out to become mainly a 2 dog's race.
I dug CAT videos and always wanted to have a go at it, but never quite managed to.
Still, i can see it feeling at home in the xsi mindset and workflow.
How's XSI sdk? Any better than Max?
Or just as messy?

Not a XSI user but
I'm not an XSI user but from what I gleen from people who are users, they love the product. It is also a fully fledged 64 Bit application - a link to a demo video floating around that is really impressive. I downloaded the demo and was determined to give it a shot - it is just so much work to learn a new app. and seeing that my beloved Vray is not available (as of yet) for XSI there seems little point just yet.
Personally Siggraph is going to be very interesting this year as I am on the verge of purchasing a home copy of 3dsmax - big $$$$$$$.

So if it is porting some of it's own plug-ins to MAX, I don't really see it spitefully stopping other plug-ins from supporting MAX. Unlike some <cough> Autodesk<cough>. [/url]
