01/August/2006 - Sitni Sati d.o.o., a developer of AfterBurn, DreamScape and ScatterVL Pro, announces the development of a new fluid dynamics plugin for 3ds max

The new product is named FumeFX and is intended for realistic simulation of fire and smoke and their interaction with scene. Fire and smoke are physically based, with gravity, temperature, pressure, objects, velocities and external forces influencing their behavior.

    ...

    Looks promising.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

id love to know a bit more like what their simulation times are and the render time per frame. im going to assume they let AB render what their plugin has calculated

Meaning they bought it out from Chaos? I think we would have heard of it before this?

            hmmmmm looks interesting.
The fire animation looks exactly like an old aura animation.

FumeFX is definitely not Aura. the chaos guys are supposed to be showing Aura at a vray user event on Friday along with an image sequencer.

To bad they didn't announce the vray user event until about a week prior to siggraph. I would have liked to attend but had already made my travel plans.

I was going to start a thread to ask what happened with aura the other week, it looked quite nice.
Nice to hear some fluid based fire is coming out for me to be amazed by and have no reason to buy though
