The tech guy at Tyan also said there had been problems with the Antec True Power 2 550w. I built the two workstations with them and so far they have been rendering the whole weekend with no problems. Haven't tried to burn a cd with them yet though. Sounds like enough people have had problems that it would be a good idea to steer clear of them.

This is the case/ps combo I bought. It appears there are couple different versions of the Truepower II 550w power supplies, so maybe this one does not have the same problems as the other.

I don't have a problem with mine or any of the other series from them - but not to say others don't.

I have had several Antecs and as a rule trust them but it looks like this
one model has some issues. As a matter of fact I have not idea who
to go with beyond Antec, always used them.

Try these as alternatives to antec.

          PC Power and Cooling
          Seasonic
          FSP

I'm a big FSP fan myself. Swapped to them after using antec for years, after I started learning about PSU's. FSP doesn't have a consumer lineup. Their consumer lineup is their old workstation/server psu's.
