  • Quad core benchmarks

    Hey Everyone

Just thought you wanna see how fast your VRay will render, here is a Intel Quad core max8 benchmark....

from Toms Hardware, and here is the rest of the test....

    http://tomshardware.co.uk/2006/09/10...uk/page11.html

I cant wait to get one of these babies with DirectX 10 and a decent Graphics card for playing Crysis...I mean for rendering visuals [/img]

there are people who still listen to toms hardware?

      ---------------------------------------------------
MSN addresses are not for newbies or warez users to contact the pros and bug them with
stupid questions the forum can answer.

toms hardware.. sheesh.. take those benchmarks with a grain of salt.

Tom's Hardware a couple of years ago was know for taking bribes for better scores in benchmarks, to the point where they had contradicting results in their own reviews.etc..etc.. people getting laid off, skewing test results.. lots of shifty shit going on.

There was many a thread over a cgtalk about them.. a quick search will find you alot of info.

Basically im never trusting them again. Well atleast not like i used too.

Holy crap I didnt know that, used toms for a long time for reference.
Than really sucks. Anyone have a site for reference the at least seems
              legit still?

Dont know of any definites off the top of my head actually.

I believe http://www.hardocp.com/ is pretty good and http://www.xbitlabs.com/ but not 100% sure.
Its been awhile since i was looking into hardware reviews often.

Wow, I didn't know that either. I don't really use it, I usually ask those I know what they have experienced. I have never been a firm believer in general benchmarks...It seems that there are too many variables to base everything on them. But I have never found any great discrepancies from what I have read on Toms and what I have experienced myself. But I have found that good news on hardware travels fast on the web. It is cool that these sites post these benchmarks, but I am usually more interested in what the average Joe posts in forums as I think sometimes it is more relevant to what I do. And besides, what you can only afford to upgrade every couple years, anything is better than what you had

I need to seriously update my site but there are a few HW review sites in there and most are pretty good... have a look see if you like

There was indeed a big brohaha a while back, but that is not to say they have not "cleaned up their ship"...or maybe not. All benchmarks should be taken with a pinch of salt as you the reader have no idea whats really going on behind the scenes and as such would be better off taking a broad sampling of such benchmarks from different people/sites/magazine and see if you can come to a consensus regarding the product you are interested in.

There are tons of tech/hardware sites such as those metioned by DaForce and in addition..

Yeah he is a uber hardware nerd

Is he the brother of Greg Hess on the cgtalk forums who is also a hardware nerd. Or are they one and the same.
