Was running BETA2 for awhile thru VMware.. was kinda cool.. but mostly just graphical changes.. sure lot of the background stuff has change but when you turn of all the fancy crap it looks like XP with a few minor changes. But still its quite cool.
I have RC1 but yet to install, I think i will just do it via VMware again, saves needing another machine
RErender:
Try a download manager like flashget next time

We have Vista Beta 2 64-bit on one of the machines here and it's been running quite smoothly... but the new interface soon gets on my nervesfortunately, there is an option for the old-style UI.
Best regards,
VladoI only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Even managed to fit the b**ch into 120 megs of ram, after an afternoon stopping background services.
And then it looked and felt like xp, just as DaForce said, with no particuarly visible enhancement.

Sick of the MS trend of submerging the user with bacground running, memory and cpu eating crap with each new release of SP or OS.

One interesting thing I've heard about Vista is its ability to utilize portable memory sticks for extra memory - not sure how well/if that works.
Trying to think of what else it does other than a facelift...

actually it is the seek times that play the biggest roles, up to 60ms per read on the HD vs. 1ms to read from flash. with speeds of over 5MB per second read flash is fast enough for small files. The other cool thing is that the flash memory can be used as a non volatile storage for system data when suspending or hibernating.
