20" or 26" Widescreen?

I'm thinking about getting bigger LCD. Right now I have 17" Samsung. I want to Get NEC with A-TW-IPS panel. RIght now there is 20" (1600x1200) and soon there will be 26" widescreen (1920 x 1200). I was thinking if 26" isn't overkill, for it's price I could get two those 20". Or maybe isn't that so bad ide now to get 20" and after few months 26". Or maybe it's still better to get 2x 20", cause 2x26" is to heave for my pocket . Please I need advice form people who used big screens in dual setups.

Well I still haven't gotten a larger LCD yet (still using my IBM 22" CRT), but every time I think of getting one I consider that I'd like to see pixel-for-pixel display of 10800res HD images, meaning it would have to at least display 1920x1080 natively.

At this point I'm probably going to get a 24" LCD, and run my CRT alongside it. I'd really like one of those 30"er's, though...

I have to admit that the 30" dell looks sweet, and just saw that today only Dell.ca has the 30" LCD on for $1599 and the 24" on for $749

The 30" Dell requires specific graphic cards and dual heads to drive it - so it's actually probably more efficient to get two 24" Dells instead.

Dell 24" in US is now $679 on sale, and the 30" is only $1279! That's pretty cheap for a 30" monitor... hmmmmmmm... maybe I'd better go lock those credit cards up.

I just bought 2 - 22" Samsung widescreen Can$499. I think this the best bang for the buck. Now I just have to get them calibrated so I can use them for final renders! I love the real estate.

I've read comparisons on several sites including Engadget with the Dell 24" versus the Apple 24" Cinema. Dell came up on top with higher contrast and better price. Dell makes a darn good monitor.

now way I will get shitty DELL. Now they messing with the panels. People are buying it and think that they will have IPS and it's PVA, cause dell suddenly decided to changed it secretly. NEC all the way. Now the only problem is if 20" will be enough Or it's better to wait for 24" or maybe now 20" and in the future add 24"

Color reproduction and ms response is great - however the viewing angles do suffer (your argument of IPS vs PVA). Then again, it doesn't make much of a difference if it's right in front of you.

Dell rock

The company I work for does lots and lots of stuff for Apple. They are always down here for meetings and stuff (they are all total Mac heads) - they recently changed all the design staff over to 24" dells because the specs just blew the apple stuff away. Unfortunately I'm not rated as the top design staff so I am to 19" Planar flat panels - they are good but a friend was working at company where they where using 24" dells and he swears by it - says it's the best thing ever :]

I'm still not sold on lcd's but I was looking at about thirty of them at a computer store the other day and I agree the NEC's looked far better than the rest.

Eric, I don't have chance to see so many LCD in one store here in CYprus so could you tell me what do you think is the best optimal size? I was thinking about getting 20" and after some time adding 24"

I would go for the 24".

a: 1920 x 1200 for 1080 HD
b: LCDs still have this colorshift when viewing from differnet angles. So if you have two 20" there will be shifting. On my 24" dell the images changes if I "loll" (?) before it.

I miss my 24" CRT. But the nearby train made it impossible to use it.
