  • MAX 9 GENERAL NETWORK RENDERING PROBLEM

    Hello There,

I dont know if anyone else has ever encountered this problem. We've just uninstalled MAX 8 and upgraded to MAX 9 on all the machines (used for network rendering).

When we go to network render and assign all the servers, only two of the 10 work? all the others just sit idle with no errors. Any ideas please?

    Thanks

There is a x64 and x32 incompatibility. Are they all x64 or x32? Also, make sure all the slaves have the latest Vray installed.

autodesk have released an updated version of Backburner. Check the subscription website. It might fix your problem.

We're running x32system so they are all installed as x32.

Vray is not being used for this animation.

Just for future reference, this should be in off-topic then since it's not directly Vray-related.

Anyways, check reform's suggestion. Make sure theyre all running same bb.

I would think that its a matter of version.
If you accedently start the old backburner server nothing will happend.
If the header of the program says Backburner server version 2,3 its the wrong one.
Since the icons are the same for the new and the old version its an easy thing to pick the wrong one from the startmenu, desktop or whatever

                Mamma,
Even if all your systems including the manager machine are running the latest version of backburner ie. 2007 (or something), this problem of servers sitting idle will crop up. There is a long post about this in the Autodesk Area forum. The only way to resolve this is to uninstall Backburner 2007 on the MANAGER MACHINE ONLY and use Backburner 3.02 there.

Hope this helps. It worked for us
                Vivek

Patrick, is this different to the install that comes on the max 9 dvd?

oh. i just checked the subscription site and autodesks site and there is no mention of an update.
Are you sure its not the update for backburner in max 8?

                        I think its this : http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...linkID=5573345

                        Backburner 3.0.2

                        Published date: 2006-04-10
                        ID: DL7115168

                        Applies to:
                        Autodesk® 3ds Max® 8

So yes, you are right that its for max 8. Sorry if thats no help!
It fixed a problem for me with nodes refusing to take on renders... but I'm running max-8 at the moment.

hmmm, backburner 2007 problems I was afraid that would happen.
Why is it that when Autodesk releases a new version of backburner, it always has some bugs in it ?To me it seems that lately they are spending all their time adding bells and whistles to 3dsmax nobody is interested in, while they should be fixing bugs.

the fact that backburner is so buggy, tells me that such an important piece of software on which many people depent for rendering has a very low priority at Autodesk.
They had years of devellopment time for backburner and it still is buggy as hell. Autodesk should be ashamed...
(especilally for releasing backburner 3.0 with the 600 min rendertimeout overrule bug)

                            sorry for this post,
                            Marco

very true and unfortunately we tend to find this info out when working on live jobs, with no spare time!
