i dont think it would make a good renderfarm. Those processors have pretty slow cpu speeds, they just threw in alot of them so they could all do different functions.

So how good do the games look...compared to a 360 which I assume you have played. Gears of war for instance is pretty outstanding, and COD3 is also pretty sweet.

How do the games on PS3 look.. in your opinion.

Damn it.. i can see myself buying a PS3 and a Wii, I think the PS3 will be last bought tho due to price.

TBH Resistance looks 100 time sbetter than COD3. But over all the games looks beautiful in Full HD 1080p ... From the looks of it the games that will be coming out mid next year look even better so from what I have played thus far I love it.

PS3 on a 54" Big screen in Full HD is more than worth it over a 30" screen...

We bought 4 of them total and well... Lets just say we kept 2 and sold the others with the games on the first day they were out... we did local pickup on them. TBH I did have my shotgun near buy when they cAme over to pick it up. I was taking no chances....

Profits were so huge off them, we paid nothing for ours and have a nice 60" LCD on order

I would hope the Wii is out selling the PS3 as they have double the units available. PS3 sold 300,000+ units in 1 day the Wii sold 600,000+ in 8 days.

I think once more PS3 flood the market they will ctach up to Nintendo's #'s. Out of all the console launches ever, the Wii has out sold everyone in it's first week.

we've just got a ps3 in our living room only a few days ago, and in the uk, this is something of a rare-ity. My only comment is that i hope the european launch has much, much better launch titles.

One the other hand, we also got a Wii, and it has been the most fun with absoluetly everyone who's played it. People are genuinely shocked at the complete abstraction of an interface - quite simply, to play the tennis game, you play tennis. Bowling is bowling. It's amazing. In my humble opinion, the Wii is the largest step forward in gaming that has ever been - more significant that the leap from 2d to 3d. And i don't say that lightly. I really think that Sony has underestimated nintendo this time...

With the PS3, i was amazingly underwhelmed; it held my attention for about 4 minutes, compared to a Wii, which in my experienced hasn't had a bad word said against it by everyone who i've introduced it to.

Sorry to rain on your parade about this, but in such a competitive market; sony - try harder. People shouldn't be taken for idiots - a 500quid price tag, for something that looks nothing better than ps2 in my opinion. You've just got to look at the accomplised games like God of War on ps2 - this easily stands up to Resistance and Genji which i played. Half life 2 was way better than resistance, and i played this easily over a year ago.

Blueray, etc. - its a games machine at the end of the day, and the games i played sucked.

again, sorry - nothing personal, but it's just my opinion of ps3.

While I agree the wii is groundbreaking, bear in mind the ps3 launch was for all intents and purposes a total failure.





Sorry about the large images. Those tyre tracks are created in real time, depending on how you drive, your speed, and the weight of your car. It changes the geometry and material too, so pools can form to slide through and ridges affect how you drive.

Also bear in mind this is very early first gen on a console which is notoriously hard to develop for with very strange architecture.
The wii may still come out on top, but 'no better than a ps2' is the most ridiculous thing Ive heard in a long time.

Resistance, and Genji, (the only games i've played so cannot comment on others) look no better than some of the later ps2 games.

I couldn't want more for the ps3 to be a huge success - if your a gamer then you want today's games to offer the best experience yet.... For me, the wii did this in a such a way as to leave me gobsmacked, and playing it every day from then on; the ps3 held my attention for a matter of minutes, but as i said, i hope for the european launch there will be some decent titles...
