  • Exporting ACIS solids from MAX?!?

    Hi all,
is there any way to save ACIS solids in a DWG from MAX?

If you export out a simple model in DWG, it will open in AutoCAD as a Mesh, not as a "solid".

I need the models from MAX to be saved in DWG as SOLIDS.

    Any idea?

This is for Revit, it needs ACIS solids into DWG format in order to properly import models into Mass families...

Dammit, these two are about 7K USD, and they cannot even exchange a cube...

    Thank you

    regards

the only way I know is through formz.
while importing your dwg/dxf into formz check "construct 3d solids"
then save it out as acis sat. take a low acis version, otherwise acad can't read it.
that works with simple shapes, no idea how it does on complex forms.

Max imports.dwg ACIS solids as meshes. If your source can provide the solids in SAT format, you can use Power Translators to import/export them to and from Max. I'm not sure how you'd get them into dwg format though. Can Revit import SAT?

I'm assuming you don't have AutoCAD.
