  • How many of you are using VIZ 2005-6-7?

    Hello,

I would like to know whether there is anyone using vray 1.5 on VIZ package?
I ve never seen or worked in viz and i was wondering what are the main differences between VIZ and MAX? do the plugins such as Poly Boost and Color Correct work in VIZ as well? or do the plugins made for MAX work in VIZ as well?

    Sorry for such dull questions...

    Thanks for any answer

I still use viz 2005 with vray from 1.47 to 1.5rc3 without any viz related issue; polyboost works and so does color correct, but, in general, I must say that often plugins aren't deeply tested by developers with viz, so it's a question of luck!!

I use 2007, and I havent had any problems in a while. There was a bug with the buckets not rendering the textures randomly, But I haven't seen that since the 1.5 RC releases.

I haven't tried net render yet, that has always been a bit screwy with viz because of the way viz works, not vrays fault.

I've used Viz 4 - 2007 with Vray since 1.09 and it's worked fine, no big problems. I've recently been using my own copy of Max at work sometime (we only have Viz) because of the Viz 2007 bug that it won't gamma-correct the material editor.

Main difference between the two is subobject animation, no particles, and no dynamics. If you're not going to be animating characters or doing any effects (ie, only arch-viz or design viz) you probably don't need Max. Or, if you work with several other people, most of them can work on Viz to do any modelling and then it can be brought into Max for any effects or animation, they both use the same file format.

I'm not sure what Bug your talking about exactly, But the material editor doesn't seem to be affected by changing the gamma.

I use viz 2007 and the material editor does change after changing the gamma. I used to put in 2.2 gamma but then the material editor gets really bright, so I just leave it default and add the gamma correction in the vray frame buffer.

There was a recent service pack for Viz 2007, it addressed some of the gamma issues.
