  • 32-bit...

I've got a large exterior animation that I am working on and decided to go the 32-bit exr route as I would like to adjust the exposure in post. I currently have Combustion, but now I realize that it clamps the value at 1. Are there any other (inexpensive) options that will allow me to do this in post?

    Thanks in advance,
    Ryan

I think for combustion you need a plugin to read exr correctly. Mostly exr is designed for nuke, but also works in shake4.

I know it will accept 32-bit exr - that works fine. It just clamps it at 1.0. Are you saying a plugin will allow for values over 1?

this is what I can remember. When we switch to exr pipeline, we needed to get plugin for combustion for proper reading of exr. That much I know...

Combustion doesn't like hdr images (in general) with pre multiplied alpha channels. Use un-multiplied and you can expose until your eyes bleed.
Aside from that, I guess one would need a custom plugin to read out any arbitrary data included in the other custom channels, but that goes for other apps too, not just Combustion.
