  • Max 9 Productivity Booster from Autodesk

    http://www.digitmag.co.uk/news/index.cfm?NewsID=7252

Nice way to name a bugfix release.
At least they get creative in that...
    Vista/dx10 support. Ooooh boy.
I'm sure there is some obscure reason for us all to upgrade software and hardware.
Don't ask me if i like it though.

do you think they will release dx10support on ly in this package? or will it be part of some next SP as well? or is this their way of getting people to pay for subscription?

        Lamer then Lame

I guess that now they own the whole 3D animation Universe ( sorry XSI users ) they don't need to really push the product anymore. I feared this would happen when they took Maya, what is even more scary is the extensions used to herald what was coming out in the next release. Does this mean that 3dsmax 10 is going to be a performance boost ?
I'm still on 7.5, even though I have 9 on my rig, there just doesn't seem the urgency to move on, considering all the plug-in and network rendering problems - or is it that I have just gotten Lazy ?

to be honest alone the performance boost from 8 to 9 more then justifies the upgrade for us....all of a sudden one is able to handle a full car model without (ab)using bounding box viewmode. If the performance boost is as much as a leap forward as 8 to 9...then i am happy with R10 beeing a performance boost update

to be honest I have access to max 9 in both 32 and 64bit modes, but Im still using max 8 mostly. Yes I know theres a noticeable difference in viewport speed between the 8 and 9, but after umpteen years of learning to have layers turned off that dont need to be floating in the viewport, Im just used to working efficiently within my viewports, so 9 all of a sudden isn't so necessary.
