  • Material Glow

I want ti animatea light going up a bldg. So I animated a cylinder from 0-84' over a period of 1 second to simulate a light going up a bldg, but I want it to glow also.....Do I use a vraylightmaterial? Is the glow still added with Lens Effects and if so, which light do I use if any for the glow?

    Thanx all

I would use a vray light material, then a render elements material select to isolate it and do the overall glow in post.

Thanx...but I am still a little confused...Do you mean do the glow in Premiere? Do I animate the movie with just the light and then bring it over top the actual movie? Thanx for your help

it would be easier to do in a post package that supports effects (Combustion, nuke, after effects).

You can do it many ways, I would render out the element (the light item) as a separate pass. So that In your comp package you can tell it to add a glow to those frames. The program will add the glow automatically to all the frames for you.

If you dont have a comp package, you can do it in photoshop, but it might be a bit more tricky. basically you will have to record and action that will adjust your light to glow, then automate that action on the entire folder. The exact steps to do this really depend on how you render your frames and what premier can do.

You can apply glow to objects with a certain GBuffer ID only, or a certain material ID, or to pixels over a certain brightness.
