I have read it will be for 3D users but what will be the benefit for us?

My Guess would be higher prices for features that either dont work or are plain useless :P

Seriously. I'd guess from the announcements that the non-extended version will have exactly those features removed that pro's need to force us buying the extended version wich will of course be more expensive then the standard version.

New features ? Motion support ? yeah sure, that's what PS needs...3d? ohhhh great 3d PDF stupidity

With Photoshop Extended, video professionals can perform 3-D model visualization and texture editing, as well as paint and clone over multiple video frames. Animations created in the upcoming version of Photoshop can be exported in several formats including QuickTime, MPEG-4, and Adobe Flash Video. Despite the new features, Adobe says it is not trying to turn Photoshop into a full-fledged 3-D tool; rather, the company’s goal is to complement the tools its customers already use.

“We recognize our place in the 3-D and video workflows,” said Connor. “Adding 3-D features is important so people don’t run into the speedbumps they did in the past.”

Photoshop Extended is not just about 3-D—the new version also has features for other professions, as well. Users will now be able to extract quantitative and qualitative data from images. In addition to measurement and analysis tools, architects, medical professionals, and scientists will enjoy increased support for specialized image formats so they can easily view, annotate, and edit images in their native format.

All it would really take is one feature removed or omitted, if it was the right feature. And doesn't photoshop already have limited version - "Photoshop Elements"? What happened to Imageready (I don't see it in their list of products).

I am interested to see what they mean by this though (in the standard version too)...
