I would be willing to bet that any type or option can make it just as far as any others (mathematically) as long as the launch is correct for the options selected.

I would lean towards the third type too, in my extensive experience (about 30 years ago) with real paper airplanes the third type is closest to the type I found most successful.

Try 3rd type weight 0-5
flaps 10-25
and add airfoils for stability

Launch at a downward angle

with this setup I can do a loop and still get 25m :P

I'm suspecting that there's an upper limit there.

I find that zero paper weight is the best. Also throwing downwards so that the plane just skims the ground and comes up. Also global subdivs multiplier around 2.0.
