What are people's views about this?

Anyone in Europe think they might purchase one in '09? People in the States will have to wait and see if the company thinks there's a large enough market/interest.

if its actually using only 1,5 liter on 100 km i will buy it.
lets wait and see if they really start to produce it.
    Reflect, repent and reboot.
    Order shall return.

there r allready 3 litres/100km options in europe...i can remember lupo for instance.
but the new hybrid solutions have been rising their sales amount...
to me this hybrid solutions look much more promissing than any economic petrol only based solution.

other than that the samll american car doesn t look small enough!

An economic petrol only based solution does have some things going for it; less cost, less complexity and possibly less weight. If this car does well in the European market, it would be interesting to see what they come up with for a diesel hybrid version.

I've actually seen a few of these in the states; with Canadian plates. It was amusing to see one drive past a Hummer. They're going to have base price of $15,000US and an estimated 40 MPG. Of course they're not mentioning either the diesel, petrol hybrid (50MPG-4.7L/100km) or diesel (80MPG-2.9L/100km) hybrid.

actually i was talking about this:
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Lupo
defenitely forgot about the smart huge sucess...at least around here.
very light, samll engine, very low consumption!

honda, lexus, toyota, and volvo r selling hibrid models.
they ve been around for quite sometime now, but since the last year there was a tax reduction on less polluent vehicles making them much more affordable and as far as im aware there have been some sales increase, despite the not so good economic health ambience in this small corner of europe.
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrole...hybrid_vehicle

the hybrid solution is imo a better solution because it brings electric engines to the mainstream, wich makes the thecnology development increase...i hope
