  • tga transparency in cs2?

I'm trying to save out some tga files from a psd in photoshop CS2 - the psd doesn't have a background colour, it's totally transparent.

When I save as a tga it slaps a white bg on the image! (32 bit option selected)

If I save as tiff then it keeps the transparency.

I'm sure this never used to happen!

Does anyone know what I've done wrong??

    Rob.

    you working late again rob!

could you try using png? Great format, lossless, and keeps the transparency as well...

I've noticed that too. And I HATE it!!
I've switched to PNGs too for the most part, but your legacy TGAs are still usable. Just load the selection. Can't remember the menu location, but if memory serves, I think it's ALT, S, L, ENTER

Yeah just remembered that PS7 opened them that way (just came back to post that), Adobe later released a patch to fix it so that it opened them like every other program, with an alpha.

Ah. Never heard about that patch. Don't you just love it when they 'fix' things that you liked perfectly well as they were?!!!

I wish they'd just put a switch in the PS system settings....

Nothing was worse than in CS1 they changed the the A hotkey under the File menu to be "Open As" instead of "Save As"

wow that was annoying. ALT-F,A was my bane for months.
