  • Vray car libraries

Anyone know of any good (high detail) car libraries with Vray materials assigned correctly? I am after pretty high end cars - Range Rover Sport, Mercedes, Ferrari, BMW etc
    Kind Regards,

3d o2 have the cleanest models I've seen but i'm not sure if they have vray mats - should be a really simple conversion either way. - http://3d02.com/

We've bought a few and some of them were not to scale...close but not exact. Not sure if that makes any difference or not...just thought i'd mention it.

I am pretty sure we have bought some of those cars already, but we found the naming of them a real mess - many many many different parts which all need to be re-assigned vray-compatable materials. Yes, its 'doable, but I wondered if there were any vray-ready ones out there.

We bought some furniture recently which, although a bit 'old fashioned' was very very good straight out of the box (interio or something I think?). This is what we want but with cars.
        Kind Regards,

Yes, that´s true, and on top of that, the mesh u get is collapsed in most of the cases, so u end up with a badly named and heavy geometry. I guess the authors have a non-turbosmoothed version but for some reason they tend not to include it with ur purchase. Using a lot of them without using proxies can make the memory go high. Ah, and beware of glass windows: they are usually single sided, which doesnt look good when used with refraction ior.
Besides, although u find a Vray-compatible car, u will surely want to change the parameters to suit your needs or update them to new Vray versions.

Really? They collapsed the turbosmooting? That's good to know, I've been looking at those collections for awhile (expensive, and we can't use the European cars that you don't find in the states). I like that Dosch's cars all have the meshsmooth modifiers still on them, so we can turn them off for lighter poly use at a distance.

All the car models we've gotten we've re-materialed ourselves. Odd that there seems to be a lack of cars with V-Ray materials on 'em.

I don't recall if I found the link to this site on this forum or somewhere else, but http://www.sugar3d.com has what looks like some nice cars and claim to have some vray materials on them.

That being said, I haven't looked at anything other than the sample, so I can't say for sure how good they are.

I´ve downloaded the sample as well, and, although the model is well named and the wheels are separated from the body, which is ideal for fast rigs, there are no vray materials on them and ive downloaded the file called Sample_*_VRAY. Plus, Rims are poorly modelled and they use a texture instead...It can work, but...
