Well, in a way...Thanks for all the great tips! For now, I just select something and zoom to it, or use user view...using user view is new to me, so I guess that is the solution

I have just deleted it today, and I'm not dead eheh.
just some things to reset in your preference, but nothing critical, you can also save your UI and some preferences things to be sure.
But I had this kind of prob last days and this solve my probs.

well, I wanted to try deleting that 3dsmax.ini, but where is it? There is not anything called that in my max9 root...

All of a sudden now, I cannot save, save as, or render a scene I've been working on fine until yesterday! Grrrr.. (because max tries to save right before rendering.)

                        Thanks

Your max9 ini is likely in you User folder in "C:\Documents and Settings\..."

For your file I would try merging the scene into a new file.
