  • Looking for a @%(#)*$ font

Hey all. I have a quickie project. Client wants business name on the side in the "Neutra" font. (Part of "Neutraface". See link.)

Anyone have this font, or one fairly similar? The key is the lowered bar on A, E, R, etc.

I'd love the font, or even the text converted to a mesh if you don't want to part with the font!

Well... buy the font and bill it to the client... they want a specific font, they can pay for it.

Or, ask them to buy it and give it to you.

Asking someone here to share a copy of the font with you is just like asking someone here to share a copy of MS Office or VRay.... definitely not legal.

Nah. There are millions of fonts out there. I just thought someone might have one of these that I haven't found in my searches. I know the client doesn't want to pay for it - that's why I've been poking around the free (legitimately free) font sites. (In re-reading, I suppose it sounded like I was looking for the "real" Neutra font. Poor wording on my part. I'm just burned out browsing these ridiculous font sites!)

So....you mean vlado didn;t upload the vray torrent for the public. I had an old cd collection of fonts back in the day....But I know that one is not part of them....But after I sift thru the millions of them on screen one at a time I may find it....

Use what the font and see what its suggestions are.

Get an image of some text written in that and feed it into this - http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/

Failing that, if theres a sample sheet of lettering somewhere and he only wants it for a small logo, trace the letters with curves in max and scale them.

i am surprised this post is still here since you are asking someone to break copyright violation, and send you a font that needs to be purchased to be legal.

You really don't get it? Google "free fonts" sometime. You'll keep yourself busy until the end of time. Just looking to see if anyone had anything like the font I mentioned. Only reason for saying the name and posting the link was so people know what look I'm after.

You telling me if I use "Bookman" or "Copperplate" or "Times New Roman" or "Crazy Al's Fancy Font", that the people who charge money for the original Times have any claim? If someone wants to delete it, feel free. And for pete's sake, relax!!

no i get it just fine. i am well aware of all the freee fonts out there. ...this line however, "I'd love the font, or even the text converted to a mesh if you don't want to part with the font!" ..pretty much says, if you don't mind giving the font to me, then i would like that.

                  Ok, you got me.

While I'm at it, does anyone have any good HD footage I can include in my reel?

tell me again, how many of the free sites did you find Neutra on? exactly. as far as i know it is a font that was originally created by House Industries. they spent their time and money designing and creating that font. so, why should they not charge for it? ...do you give away your work for free?

its a very geometric font - it would be easy to redaw in Illustrator if you only need a few characters (that is using the font shown as guide and inspiration... rather than copying it)

it's based on fonts designed in the 1930s like Kabel and Futura with a touch of Gill Sans and the central horizontals shifted down

I think he found what he needs...As for the HD footage...Yeah...I think I can send you some...Probably from the same place I found the fonts....

Whoah....A little heated in here.... It feels like a newbie torrent site or game forum.

If you want to rant on about politics and copyright law...That's ok....But I think it was an honest " can someone please hook me up or do me a favor" Not a " Can I get a serial to Vray"

Which I have for $1500.....just kidding

                          Hmm,
where do repro houses stand when they request "please include all fonts"
when you are submitting artwork? I have included all fonts and never gave it a moments thought.

repro houses theoretically have a license for every font that exists - but they cannot keep them all open on their sytems so by supplying them they know which fonts to open
                            - that's what they say anyway

I seem to remember you're meant to have a license for every output device as well - though I think some of the more obscure restrictions have been relaxed over the years

in the history of type design, fonts have frequently been copied by another manufacturer with tiny variations (am referrring to the hot metal days of Monotype/Linotype et al) - though that doesnt make it right of course

I love this font too, so much we bought the collection. Its only $250 and it has paid for itself more over than I care to count. BTW it comes with 85 different styles, which is like what $3.00 a piece.

Support your industry and pay for the thing if you like it, so great designers can keep/want to design more great fonts.

You tell people to relax, what do say to someone who asks you to work for free? Fonts are art too.

If you need a similar looking font do as already been suggested and visit "WhatTheFont" they usually give you a few different fonts to choose from, ones that are similar to the one you are looking for.
