  • viz to max compatiblity

I model in viz 2006 due to render farm and can't see any real difference between this and viz 2007. viz 2006 is max 7

Now I sent my file to my mate for him to render in max8 and.....file crashes
I have collapse the whole lot into 1 big fat file before he can open it.

This only seems to happen on largish objects ie building. I've modelled chairs and stuff with no problems.

I've tried it in max 8 trial, and works fine on 2 PC's I have access to. I have crap cheap PC's. He has expensive BOXX's and swears blind it isn't them, which I'm inclined to believe.

    Anyone else have this problem?

I would have to think that if it were truely an incompatability between viz and max (seems unlikely) it would not work at all, even on your systems. Although I haven't done this with anything later than R6, I used to work at a place that used a mixed pipeline and we had no problems at all.

You may need to use other machines to varify this, especially one that has an authorized and perhaps updated version of R8.
