How does it compare to mudbox? similar or totally different.

similar but different! ZB3 will be a huge improvement, but Mudbox 2 will be interesting when its released

Think that zb3 will be still far more unintuitive, than mudbox...
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

I think ZB held the crown for number of polys that could be handled in realtime, while the interface in mudbox was a lot more streamlined, and a wee bit more intuitive up to ZB 2.5.
I'm very curious about how ZB 3 will fare, though.

Without Mudbox, i dont think ZB 3 would have such an amazing array of features. Competition is good!
Personally, I can't wait to test it... the videos showing the new tools and workflow are stunning.

On the other side, the thing is results with Zbrush are strictly proportional to your own artistic skills, and I think its much more visible with this app than with any Max/Maya program. That's why my attempts with ZB 2 are totally crap. I presume ZB 3 will be no different

on one hand yes. Zbrushes dumb ui is a big detraction. On another, since this is a version 3, it will be a lot more powerful in all areas. 256 cpu support, full multithreading. 64 bit suport. Looks like awesome texture painting capobilities. Shaders, etc. mudbox at the moment is just a modeling app. However, mudbox 2 will have also the texturing power and more. Cannot say more then this

                              LOL morbid, best of luck.
On the ZB side, it was all really down to the T key and some small click/alt click/alt click drag combos.
Granted mudbox is a LOT more like PS, but gosh.
                              Also almost as slow...
