  • 3dsmax export to IGES

I have an unusual situation here,
a client wants me to send him an IGES model from a polygon model that i have built for him in 3dsmax.
I have an IGES importer but not an exporter and i couldnt find one with google.
as i understand it IGES is a NURBS format so do i have to remodel everything with a NURBS modeler like Rhino or is there a software that can do that?
    Reflect, repent and reboot.
    Order shall return.

IGES is not a pure nurbs format, it can contain both nurbs and polygons. There's various apps out there (like DE or polytrans or or or) that will most likely be able to convert it.

rhino actually works pretty well as a go-between also, it'll open stuff pretty cleanly, and the demo gives you 25 saves with which to screw with to get a good model out. :P

If your client has asked for an iges file then I doubt he'd be wanting polygons. I just tried to export polys to an iges from rhino and it didn't work - only accepts nurbs stuff.

If you want to import polys into a cad program you may be better off saving as an STL
