one would assume he uses the licence his work provides him to rake in the dough, and not his personal licence which is what he was refering too

info about version 10 from another forum

          rumors confirmed to some degree:

          - huge (10* in specific operations) speedincrease due core optimizations

          - Nvidia CUDA mentalray accelaration (!)

if this is true we can use nvidia graphic cards to speed up mental ray rendering.
i fear this will make it much faster then vray.
          Reflect, repent and reboot.
          Order shall return.

Well, it there'd be MR 3.6 - it's huge speed increase over 3.5 version, and if it will be cuda acceled - well, it's a vray killer
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

Being a beta tester of the next version of 3ds Max and under NDA and all, I can't really say anything specific, but V-Ray still has nothing to fear.

Besides, V-Ray development continues towards faster rendering as well

                Best regards,
                Vlado

yup we've all seen the bench mark thread where vray rc4 is 25% faster than rc3 for the same scene.

                        Heh, for sure.

BTW - I wish to know, if CUDA would be helpful for VRay ?

OMG they are actually going to still use some sort of box to ship the CD in?!?! with the deminishing trend in packaging I was half expecting a CD in a paper sleeve possibly shipped in a a bubble wraped envelope but Im not holding my breath as I think that mite a little much. I can see the next release being download only and pay for a CD if you want one...
