  • solid work to max

    Hello

Im having problems with a solid coming from solid works (a glass bottle model ) exported to STL. and imported in max . When i put a diffuse color, i dont have any problem but when i put a glass material i got a lot of incongruent relections and refractions.

Anybody knows a good way to pass objects from solidworks to max in a good way?

    sorry for my poor english

Have you tried checking the imported mesh with the STL check modifier in max?

Also, check that the vertices are welded, glass objects should really be a continuous surface and do an autosmooth on the smoothing groups in the mesh.

        No problem

If you post a image of the problem someone on here will probably be able to tell you what's wrong.

If the STL check returned no errors I don't know what to suggest other than to post an image showing the problem.

We use the PolyTrans converter here to get SW models in to max but if you need the model to be nice and clean I would suggest rebuilding the model as even with polytrans if you want to do a cutaway you are better off rebuilding it first as you get far less mesh related problems...
