  • Intel price drop

    Hi guys,

I am in need of a quad core system with a shed load of ram asap and I am scared that if purchase one now the price will drop significantly and I will have lost out.

Do we have any confirmed dates as when the drop will occur and by how much at retail?

    Thanks,

    Marcus.

you can get a Q6600 +4GB Ram and MOBO for about £550, if intel drop it can't drop that can't drop more than guess £150 (off the total) which in the scale of things is not much. Just go it man,

I think the price drop is next week, or the very latest the week after (end of the month)..

I'm not sure if the $266 Q6600 price drop has actually been confirmed, but it would be a stellar deal; it started out somewhere around $800 at the start of the year.

                  I assume you mean DDR2
Will also overclock the Q6600 straight to 3.2ghz.. that way everything is running at 1:1

What mobo you guys using with the q6600?

Also, pls excuse my ignorance, but is the q6600 a xeon or not? I've seen conflicting naming conventions.

Im using a Asus P5B Deluxe.

And no, the Q6600 is not a xeon. The xeonx are X**** series

                        prices dropped early!

couple places with them in stock at the new price: (in australia)

                        http://www.ausprices.com.au/cgi/Sear...&q=q6600&cid=0
(careful above, some are pre-order still)

                        and

                        http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/
                        have a nice(ish) bundle deal.

definitely using a p35 motherboard, either asus p5k or a gigabyte ds3 / 4 are the winners. just need to choose one with the features i want and nothing more.

                        3.2ghz is a small over clock -

P35 chipset (and certain boards) supports ddr3 and ddr2 but its probably way too expensive.

looks like the q6600 is the way to go for sure, because the new q6700 is twice the price for a slightly faster bus.

                            wow,
they just dropped 35% on the combo, yesterday it was £450, today £299, so my guess of a £150 drop was pretty close,

                            MOBO is 329410 - Asus P5N-E SLI, nForce-650i SLI, ATX, Socket-775, GbLAN, DDR2, 2xPCI-Ex16

                              Ok thx.
Do any mobos support dual q6600s, or is that just being greedy?
