Then I usually get people wanting renderings without any color variances.... what to do?
lI had the same problem but I'm using overridemat now with a gray color for GI calculation and it works great!!

I had this problem on the last project I worked with, I was using the output gamma at 2.2 to burn in the gamma. It worked, but caused problems as soon as I wanted to use render elements as they were not saved with the gamma applied.

The solution is to set Gamma to 2.2 in the V-Ray color mapping and to use the V-Ray Frame Buffer. We made the switch and everything's happy as it was when we had the Output Gamma set to 2.2.
