        hmmm....

well, I've tried it, and the software looks pretty easy.
but after importing I've treid to import the mesh and mats into 3dsmax...

for some reason, it takes years....
do you have any experience with that tool ?

        thx a lot,

Yeah I have used it a few times.

I have seen reports of it being slow. And seems closing and reopening fixes it.

oh wait.. importing in max is slow..mmm well that depends on how much geometry you are importing.

          How long is years?

If there is LOTS of ivy. It may take a few minutes.

I was thinking of trying this to. I have some trellissississ...Or is that trelli?

But I was thinking of using a plane and opacity maps

Use this, will look sweet .

Just be sure to turn of filtering for your opacity maps so the render isnt super slow.

                hmm..

well, I let my copoter run over the night, and I have now the plant in my max scene file:
lol: close to 1 Million Polygons...

so I can't really use it for my scene file.... hmm, is there any way to lower the polys ?

                thx,

You could model a couple of leafs for randomizz and use a script such as : http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/advanced-painter to paint leafs onto your model.

Ivy is cool my Very time consuming

Hmmmm...Just tried it and I drew 12 simples boxes to represent my trellis top...then exported to obj and imported into the program...I cant see the geometry? And when I import a simple vine, there are no materials...Do I have to make my own multi object material?

                      triangulation

Eric, I had the samae issue, I could fnd out, that you need to export with triangulation so you will see the mesh in 3dsmax...

                        1 MILLION!!

                        WOW

Its pretty low poly as it is.

                        Eric:
Yeah you gotta apply the material yourself I believe.
Just pick the material from it using the eye dropped in the material editor and change the materials to vray and choose the appropriate (included) textures. Dont forget to turn off filtering for the textures.

hmm, I couldn't really see and understand what the plugin from scriptspot does.... are there any examples to see, or any tutorials showing me that script in action ?

DOH....So do I have to pick the leaves and branches separatly? Which materials id is the branch and leaves, etc.

                            Thanx

Play with the settings in the program to lower the poly count and lessen the leaf count I guess.

                              Eric:
Nah mate not quite, "pick" any leaf or branch and it gets the multi/subobject material.. when you just change it as I mentioned. And it should just update in the viewport.
If you need to re-apply the multi/sub just select all the vine and leaves and apply it.
