Every time i see those things swirling around on the news i worry about everyone down there. Its hard for me to relate being where i am geographically. It must be hell...knowing its coming at you and you can't really do anything.

Have you ever thought about leaving before a storm
I had a friend who was doing costume work on the last two Pirates films, I think they where based in St. Thomas, this is two years ago, and they sent the crew to Los Angeles because there where a couple of nasty storms coming. Do you ever think of leaving if you see something huge coming your way - how would even do that ? Do they close down the airports ?
I don't know how you deal with those high winds, where I am from in the Dublin mountains we get lots of wind, but nothing that strong. My dad used to do roofing work, which gives you great respect for it's force, when you are 80 feet up holding your dad on a rope and 30 mph gust hits you !! - that is terrifying.
As for spiders and other killer things - we have none of them in Ireland. After the last Ice Age there was a land bridge that connected the british isles to the rest of Europe, it is thought that after the snow melted, the animals ( which had retreated to Africa) made their way back across Europe. But by the time they made it to The United Kingdom the bridge connection to Ireland was gone. Hence we have so snakes, spiders and lots of the other things.
In Ireland the only things that can kill you is drink and the women - they'll do the trick quicker then any red-back

the airport was open yesterday, but i havent heard any plans flying in today. As for running there isnt much of that to be done, just hunker down and take whats comming. but like i said it usually goes north. last time we got hit was in the 50's. we all keep saying though that we are due for one so every time the season starts we all rush off to stock up our canned goods and candles and batteries and every season we are missed. we had lots of rain and highish winds this morning but that was about all we had
