Here is a commercial script for Vray automation:

I didn´t try it out but it might be useful for beginners.
It has only a few shiny big buttons instead of a zillion vray spinners.

yes, SR is useful for beginners, as they can just observe changes made in vray settings when resolution and/or quality level are changed.

SR adjust settings when resolution changes, too.
i.e when you double the render size:

- LC samples are doubled
- DE radius is adjusted
- IM settings are lowered (-3 -1 in 640*480 become -4 -2 in 1280*1024)

So you can easily change res without making any change manually.

Possibly have them printed in the listener for reference and as learning material for those beginners
