well, from past experience i'd say octoberish. because for the last few years I've tended to have it sitting around for weeks before i get all that junk installed during the xmas break while everyone is out
Seriously. As a rule, our firm doesn't upgrade until SP2 is released, which is usually January/February. It takes Autodesk at least that long to fix everything they've managed to break with the new release. And it's never anything I look forward to -- max 8 to 9x64 was the most painful upgrade we've had yet.
Does Max 9 x64 work now? I am thinking of upgrading to that first. Or should I just go right to 2008? I've been postponing 9x64 for months now, and now they are releasing a new version only 10 months after they released their last broken version.

Thats where we stayed, and I am very happy: Max 8.3, Vray 1.5 RC2
But I'm starting to fall behind in terms of 3d libraries, materials, tutorials, etc. I sometime receive models from other viz companies, and I am starting to receive Max 9 models. It sucks to have to ask them to send it by as 3DS because we haven't upgraded yet.

I understand
But i'll wait for 2008 then I'll test it with a simple work then we'll make a choise...

Clifton,
I can't get Max 9 64 bit to import AutoCAD 2008 files at all. I can't import them or link to them with the filelink manager. There are loads of posts on the Area forum about it but no solutions as far as I can see. Unless anyone here has got it working...
Wow. I justed checked out the Area forum. Thats the official autodesk forum? The administrators only have like 20 posts! Ridiculous!
I remember there was some autodesk discussion forum, but it wasn't any better. I'll just keep coming here I learn more about Max from Chaosgroup than from Autodesk...
