  • Ratatouille-brilliantly cooked animation

I watched it last weekend and loved it. Story is fantastic. Characters are not overly "holywoodised" (good guys allways good and dressed in white, bad guys are allways bad and dressed in black with the slight tint of foregin accent)
Animation side, facial expressions, shaders etc is nothing short of astonishing. Pay attention to a scene where the rat passes through water and his fur changes from dry to wet!!

I'd dare to say that it's the best animated film since the Toy Story (my humble opinion of course!)

    Five stars from me!!!

I'd still vote the first Shrek my favorite, but Ratatouille was very very nice indeed - I liked it better than Shrek the 3rd. Both were very good as far as CG is concerned though.

    Best regards,

I agree with Vlado with Shrek 1 (and 2) being one of the best too!

However, these days u must take technical excellence for granted, so the final experience is determined by the quality of the screenplay. Ratatouille has one of the most balanced, original and not overengineered plots of all the animations titles lately, that's the reason why it´s one of the best.

Agreed - Best film of the year

I think it has been the film I have enjoyed most this year and not just for the 3D - just a great film. I love the ending, they don't try to make the dorky hero into a chef - like they normally would, he remains a humble waiter and it happier because of it. I also love the scene where he being trained to follow orders - classic stuff !!!

I never thought Shrek was all that great. Monsters Inc. was much more my style, so much more creative, IMHO.

But Ratatouille was just incredible. Took me nearly half the movie to totally get inside it, but I left the theatre all tingly.

My wife and i loved it but our kids were not into it at all. It was too subtle for them I think.

I wondered what kids would think about Ratatouille, guess I'm not all that surprised Sawyer. For the longest time I held Shrek as a favorite over the Pixar films, I thought it was incredibly lush and rich and was happy to see a CG animation peppered with pop culture references. But I LOVED the Incredibles, that may have been the most pumped I've been after leaving the theatre.

yeah my kids are 6 & 3 and while they love Totoro and Kiki which I consider to be pretty slowly paced kids films they weren't into Ratatouille. Actually both of them were acting so bad during that film we swore no more taking the kids to see movies.

I aggree, completely. The whole character is well thought. I'm still struggleing to decide who is a better character: Edna Mole (Incredibles) or the tester??

I'm a Pixar fanboy and here's why - storytelling perfection for the masses and astonishing CG work. They KNOW how to do it and hit everyone, regardless of age, where it counts! These other groups say they're making family films, but I'm sorry....not my family..and especially not Shrek. In order to relate these other groups use physical humor for the tiny tots, for tweens it's potty humor, and for adults it's sexual references - that's it - nothing more. We waited for the hype around Shrek to die down before we watched it and would never think to take our child to watch it for the reasons I've already mentioned. I have to watch these other movies first before letting my daughter watch them, but not Pixar's....(not yet). I hope they can keep their track record! Can't wait for WALL.E!

Watched it last night and am absolutely stomped. The Environments were absolutely amazing. Wet hair was great, animation was great as usual. I laughed a whole lot and gotta agree that i am really satisfied with the ending!
