32 bit machines with 64 bit software

i noticed, when going thru dells "customize" for various configurations, that i could have 2 quad core processors with 64 bit OS and the system is labeled a 32 bit system. So i must assume that there are 64 bit sytems with 64bit OS amd 32 bit systems with 64bit OS. What is the difference?

it is apparently a typo on dells website. 64 bit is 64 bit, 32 bit is 32 bit.

32 bit systems cannot run 64 bit software, its 64 bit software that can run 32bit in a lot of cases.
