  • computer blue screens after bios update..Help!!

Hey Everyone. Got my self into a bit of a mess here. Hoping that some of the hardware wizards out there can aid me with this issue.
I have desided to update my bios. Running asus P5WS 64 Professional motherboard.
Updated fine no problems, but after reboot, when windows logs in, to desktop about 30 seconds in, it shows blue screen and system reboots.
I dont know much about bios updates, its the second time i have done so. First time was successful but on another machine.
The pc will boot into safe mode but not into normal windows. I have tried a few things but no luck. Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

Sounds like some kind of service or program is being loaded in the background and when it kicks in it's knocking you out of windows - what's it saying on the bluescreen or do you get time to read it?

the blue screen was fast, but I managed to record it on my video. It was nothing specific, some address references, and just said the standart thing like, check you video card, check to have shadowing or caching disabled etc...

Im going to try resetting bios from the mother board. If that fails, then I will try to reinstall windows...dont know what else to do.

          no its not overclocked.
I have managed to solve the current blue screen issue; in safe mode, I have uninstalled the firewall which was on it, zone alarm. This seems to have terminated the service which might have caused a bsod. Thanks joconnell for suggesting the services! That led me to look for that anomaly.
However after a reboot, windows showed me like 10 warnings saying that it has recovered from serious error. And now some things do not work, such as mother board monitor. I have not tested others. Max works, rendering works.
Im thinking of still resetting bios, then reinstalling windows.

Also, I have tried to overclock the cpu, as I have done earlier, via asus AI overclock profile. It has worked on previous bios version. But now, after overclock, on boot it prints message:
            system failed to start:
WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SYSTEM32 directory is corrupt or doesnt exist!

funny huh? it boots normally without overclocking though.
