Put this in your maxroot/scripts/startup/ folder.

Unsupported and dead, still, i use it daily and by now couldn't do without.

      Hi lele,

yes i do remember this script.

But what i wanted was that max starts vray right from the start. and also when i open the materialeditor, i allready get vraymaterials, and better, allready a few vraymaterials, like glas, chrom , plastic and so on.

do you know a way to do this ?

Set up Max the way you want it, and then save the scene as maxstart.max in the default scenes dir.

I think the maxstart.max method was broken in max 9, but am not sure about it.
If it isn't that's definitely the easiest way to go.

It works with the renderer, but not the material editor it seems.

The script fills the mateditor with vray materials, aptly named.
It could be enhanced to give you a few presets, that's for sure.

                  I'll look into it.

hmm ja, the vray mat as default is broken here right, but rest still works.

                            ehm, guys...

does nobody use the "save as default" button in the "assign renderer" tab?
choose vray as renderer and push the button, voilĂ .

                            best regards
