  • Single Bit ECC error and render times

Hello, we have a small render farm in the office of 2 racks with the same specs (SUPERMICRO Bi quad core 2,33 Xeon E5345 Woodcrest 4G ram each, same motherboard, OS etc.) The only difference is that there is a 1U Rack and the other is a 2U

The problem is that the 1U render 30/40% slower than the 2U

After some search, i find in the BIOS log numerous errors on the 1U system called "single-bit ECC Errors in DIMM#3A" I think that ECC corrects the single bit because there is no big sign of unstability in the system...

My question is then : is it possible that a reccurent single bit ECC error could cause such a slowdown in the calculation ?

I'll certainly contact support to see if the #3A RAM can be changed anyways...
