  • When the world ends.....

    Hi Guys and Girls!

have a little off topic question, all the project we seem to do at the moment we have set area plate and no info or context outside that area.the problem im having is that when i do areial views i always see over the plate, and this just always looks really wrong.

Can anyone suggest anything to do which can make the areas where there is no information looks a little more intresting instead of just dropping off from the world.

    Thanks

use a vrayplane object as ground.
    its infinite.
    Reflect, repent and reboot.
    Order shall return.

You can also use horizon breaks, such as a treeline etc. We have several set up for ourselves that cover a wide variety of geography(desert, mountain, forest, farmland, beachfront). You have to use care when working with them in animation so as not to set them up too close to your scene.

            Wow..crazy!

DaElf, would you mind creating a post entitled "When Olitech wins the lottery?"

Seriously tho, we usually use the infinite plane trick with some satellite maps as a texture. We sometimes use faked 'cloud shadow' to obscure the distance and keep focus on the site. Just an idea for you...

Yeah, I felt it too. I was thinking wtf is causing this, thinking maybe some heavy vehicle out in the street. Felt weird, in the news it says some people started to cry, but it wasn't that bad.

we've used a plug in called Greeble before. It generates random building 'blocks' over a defined area. Useful for creating a mock horizon of built up areas.... Is that the kind of thing you're looking for?
