  • Form posts - unread since last visit - last visit time off - etc.

Could an admin take a look at the timer settings on the forums? It takes ages for posts to be cleared from "new since your last visit" and when I last visited is flagged incorrectly as well. I'm guessing it's because the stored session time is too long.

It might be because unless you log out explicitly, the session will expire in 12 hours or something.

It would be nice to get it fixed. It makes browsing the forum and keeping up with new posts a chore.

Here is the response of our sysadmin:

"I fixed the post marking, now all posts will appear new, but after that once marked as read it should be fine. A post that has not been read in 10 days will appear read. Also changed from 'cookie based' to 'database automatic forum marking'."

          I hope that helps

          Best regards,
          Vlado

heh, woke up to 100's posts unmarked from days ago, I was hoping it was because of a fix. Yeah sysadmin.

Thanks for following up on this Vlado.

I don't think it's whether the session data is stored in the DB or the cookies (actually DB is better if people use more than one machine or browser to access the forums), just that the session length time was far too long. 12 hours is insanely long; 15 minutes is a more reasonable number.
